Bishop Amos Thomas Griffey, III

Senior Pastor/Chief Servant Leader

Birthed in prayer, shrouded in humility, anointed through adversity and loosed unto God’s timing. “Blessed are the eyes that see what you see… for many have desired to see it and have not”.

The ministry of Bishop (Dr.) A.T. Griffey, III spans now several decades unto the Kingdom of God. Born the eldest child of Dr. A.T. Griffey, Jr. and the late Martha Jane (Coleman) Griffey of Clarksville, Tennessee. He found his roots in a Christian home and a strong Baptist upbringing under the ministry of his grandfather Pastor A.T. Griffey, Sr., Edgefield Baptist Church of Clarksville, Tennessee and later his father Dr. A.T. Griffey, Jr., Good Hope Baptist Church, Oak Grove, Kentucky.

Bishop Griffey was educated in the Montgomery County School System, Clarksville, Tennessee, Bishop Griffey started his undergraduate work at Austin Peay State University and returned to Texas to the University of Texas at San Antonio to complete his undergraduate work in Nursing. Bishop is attended Austin Peay State University, Clarksville, Tennessee and holds a Masters in Philosophy and Religious Studies. Dr. Griffey is a graduate of Emmanuel Theological Seminary in Rossville, Georgia were he received his Doctorate in Religious Education on May 7, 1990 .

On May 6, 1991, Dr. Griffey received the degree of Doctor of Theology from the Emmanuel Theological Seminary in Rossville, Georgia. He has also attended Vanderbilt Divinity School, Nashville, Tennessee, and continued studies in counseling. Also Duke Divinity, in Durham, North Carolina, studies in Conflict and Anger Management; Post- graduate studies.

Bishop Dr. Griffey served as the Editor of the Baptist Informer from August 1995 until January 2000 and Administrative Assistant to Dr. Archie D. Logan, Jr., Executive Secretary-Treasurer of the General Baptist State Convention of North Carolina, Inc.; Dr Griffey served as Field Worker Coordinator for District 3 and 4 of General Baptist State Convention of North Carolina, Inc. Dr. Griffey also served as Statistician and Executive and General Board member for the General Baptist State Convention of North Carolina, Inc. He presently serves as Historian for the General Baptist family.

Bishop Dr. Griffey served as a pedagogue for the National Baptist Convention of America, Inc., teaching Computers As A Ministry Tool and Believing As Baptist. Dr. Griffey also served as the Editor of National Baptist Lantern of the National Baptist Convention of America, Inc., Dr. S.J. Thruston, President. Pedagogue and 2005 Co- Host for the National Baptist Sunday School and Baptist Training Union Congress, teaching Letter to The Hebrews and The Gospel of John, and the New Testament, Dr. T.B. Boyd, III, President.

Bishop Dr. Griffey served as a pedagogue for the National Baptist Convention of America, Inc., teaching Computers As A Ministry Tool and Believing As Baptist. This man of God served on the National Council of Churches (CUS) Committee, Committee on Unified Series, Which prepares Sunday School Lesson Outlines for Churches and Faith Communions through out the world.

Dr. Griffey was also consecrated Bishop of Ecumenical Affairs on August 7, 2006, for and by TVCOD, Inc. an organization determined to spread the Word of God to all people of all denomination across the world. Bishop Griffey serves as Dean of the College of Bishops and Overseers of True Vine Churches of Deliverance, International and serves as Secretariat General of True Vine Churches of Deliverance, International, Apostle Sylvester Davis Johnson, is Chief Apostle and Presiding Prelate.

Bishop Dr. Griffey has also taught in the Winston-Salem Forsyth County School System as an EC Teacher at Mineral Springs Middle School.

This man of God has served five churches: First Missionary Baptist Church, Clarksville, Tennessee, First Calvary Baptist Church, Winston-Salem, North Carolina, In December of 1998 organized the Pentecostal Lighthouse Baptist Church of Winston-Salem, Inc., and accepted the call to Mount Carmel Missionary Baptist Church of Winston-Salem, North Carolina on February 3, 2001. Dr. Griffey also served as Interim Pastor of the Morehead Avenue Baptist Church of Durham, North Carolina. Dr. Griffey merged Pentecostal Lighthouse and Mount Carmel Baptist Churches on December 31, 2001. After eight years of faithful and committed service to the Mt. Carmel Missionary Baptist Church of Winston-Salem, Bishop resigned his position as Senior Pastor. Bishop is now the pastor of Historic Mount Olive Missionary Baptist Church-Nashville, Tennessee.

This man of God has learned much through the adversities of being a “desert child” but like all true desert children, he has also learned to overcome by the blood of the lamb and the word of his testimony. His family consist of his wife and partner in ministry, Delores Thompson Griffey and they are the parents of one son, Dedrick a daughter in-law, Megan and four grandchildren, Dedrick, Desirae, Savanna and Macayla.
